What is success to you?
Success to me is simply happiness. When I feel I am doing my best, when I am in a place of balance and when my life is flowing effortlessly, that is success.
What is magic for you?
I experience magic in many different ways. In my sons smile, in watching the sunrise and sitting with the earth, whenever I am alone in nature. I also find magic in serendipitous situations and encounters. In meditation. In chaos, In creation. I tend to see magic anytime I can remind myself to look for it.
What is love for you?
Love is everything to me. Love and magic go hand in hand. anywhere I find love I find magic, and visa versa.
What is your beauty/ health practice?
Honestly, I've noticed that I look and feel the most beautiful when I am connected and in alignment with my true self. I grew up in San Diego, and was a model for about 12 years.. until recently I think my perception of beauty, and what it truly is was pretty skewed. Now I eat clean, hike and try to stay as centered as possible and get enough sleep. Really enough sleep and alignment with spirit I think are the most effective beauty practices. And of course your beauty oils, ha. I use them twice a day.
What makes your spirit glow?
Dancing. Surfing. Living spontaneously. Exploring. Prayer. Quiet. Water. Being able to take time to notice the beauty, colors and flavors around me. Creating. Living in and for the moment make my spirit glow.
How do you stay centered in the middle of chaos?
Its really hard for me to be in the midst of chaos, I like my peace. I HAVE to breathe. Sometimes step away to ground myself.
What causes/ organizations are you passionate about?
I have a HUGE love of the ocean. When I was little I used to swim with the whales in my dreams, almost every night. I still do sometimes. I am very connected to the waters, so any organization that is protecting the ocean or her beings, I support. I also am a forest lover. As the owner/ Artist of Catori life, I chose to partner the Eden Projects. They are a fantastic organization who not only reforest critical areas of the world but play a major role in eliminating poverty in those areas because they provide long term jobs for the local people. I am very proud to be partnered with them!
What had been the greatest lesson as a mother that youve learned?
My son is the greatest gift I have ever known. He is my daily teacher, and daily provoker. There are SO many lessons in motherhood. My tends to be to lighten up and enjoy the ride. I have a trickster for a son and I truly believe his role in my life is to teach me to keep my heart light, and play as much as possible. Patience is always a big one too. But a pretty major lesson has been to forgive my own mother for all the short comings I found in her growing up. I realized how hard it was to be a mother once I was one, and over the years I have found more and more compassion and forgiveness toward her. I realized as children our memories can be selective and our perceptions aren't always accurate. Every mother does the best they can with what they have to give. Motherhood has been a huge catalyst in my own healing process.
What advice would you give to a new mother?
SOAK IT UP. It really does go by fast, unless your totally present. Your babies childhood will only last a fews years, and then its gone. When my son was born my husband and I decided he was our top priority, and we didnt want to miss a moment. We scheduled our lives and our jobs so that neither of us worked more than 3 or 4 days a week and one of us was always with him. We decided we would rather live minimally for the time being, and I will never regret that decision.
If you could say one more thing to the world what would it be?
Take a breath, and be present. Life is short, and you are SO blessed. Walk in love, and create an amazing reality for yourself. You are the dreamer
